Laura de la Harpe is an experienced nutritional therapist whose thriving Thatcham-based practice, Nutritional Benefits, has been established since 2008. She enjoys an excellent reputation for success, and in 2015 has expanded her business to offer nutritional therapy services in London’s renowned Harley Street.
Laura’s philosophy is based on the belief that by understanding how foods affect your energy, mood and general wellbeing, you can make changes to your health that are sustainable and achievable. Laura uses Functional Medicine principles to get to the root cause of health issues for each client, and then creates a tailored programme, teaching them how to understand food and its impact on health. She has a ‘never give up’ attitude, and will support each client to master their diet and make the right choices, so they no longer feel at the mercy of food.
Laura’s interest in nutrition first began when her own children developed food allergies, asthma and eczema, and she quickly realised how powerful food changes could be. Her own health had suffered over the years and she had assumed that was the ‘new norm’. As a result of laboratory testing and following the Metabolic Balance programme, she now feels the best she has in years; her hormones are balanced, IBS symptoms have disappeared and energy is off the scale!
In 2001 Laura made the decision to change careers and trained at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in London. After qualifying, she established her clinic in Reading, and in 2015 started practising in Harley Street. Laura has also branched out into radio broadcasting, and regularly appears on the Phil Williams show on Radio 5 Live as a Midnight Expert, answering questions on all things related to nutrition.
Laura’s areas of specialism are weight loss, digestive problems/IBS, food allergies & intolerances, female hormone health (PCOS, PMS, menopause and hypothyroidism), and adrenal stress, including chronic fatigue.
Laura continues to develop and hone her skills through continuous professional development, and is passionate about the Functional Medicine approach to nutrition. She is a Member of BANT (the British Association of Nutritional Therapists), adhering to their Code of Professional Practice at all times. She is also registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council) and is listed on the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.
Laura has a well established following on Facebook, where she offers recipes, nutrition advice and comments on nutrition-related press coverage. She is especially interested in demystifying the latest fad diets, and is always happy to give some quick advice or opinion on messages posted on the Facebook page or in forums.
