The Consultation Process

What is involved in Nutritional Therapy?

The process begins with an assessment and initial consultation.

Prior to our first meeting, I will ask you to complete and return a questionnaire about your health, symptoms, lifestyle and eating habits as well as a signed copy of our terms of engagement. (These are pdf documents which open in a new window. If you have problems you may need to download the pdf reader).

The first consultation lasts an hour to an hour and a half. At the end of the consultation you take away a personalised plan covering diet, lifestyle and supplementation. This will address your health priorities and will be realistic and achievable for you. I will give you practical advice on what to do at home. I may also suggest diagnostic testing depending on your situation.

I highly recommend a follow up session  2 to 4 weeks later to review any test results, monitor your progress and to adapt the plan as needed.

Why do Nutritional Therapists often recommend supplementation?

Whilst I believe that a good diet is essential, I am also realistic about what people eat. Not everyone has the time to cook everything from scratch every day. We also eat fewer calories than our ancestors who ate nearer 4000 calories a day. 2000 calories contains fewer nutrients. We are often deficient in specific nutrients and supplementation can target these deficiencies.

"I have been following the Holford Low GL Diet for the last week and a half... and have had no pain, no urgency and no bloating since - and I have lost an amazing 7 lbs. I have loads of energy and am able to stay up past 10.30pm, which is nothing short of a miracle!."
